Product Description

Ondafran (Ondansetron Hydrochloride) is a potent antiemetic medication used to prevent and treat nausea and vomiting. It works by blocking the action of serotonin, a natural substance in the body that can trigger the vomiting reflex, especially following medical treatments or surgical procedures.

Indications

  • Chemotherapy-Induced Nausea: Prevention and treatment of nausea and vomiting associated with initial and repeat courses of emetogenic cancer chemotherapy.

  • Radiotherapy-Induced Nausea: Prevention of nausea and vomiting in patients receiving fractional or total body irradiation.

  • Postoperative Nausea and Vomiting (PONV): Prevention and treatment of nausea and vomiting following surgical procedures.

How It Works

Ondansetron is a selective 5-HT₃ receptor antagonist. It blocks serotonin receptors both peripherally on vagal nerve terminals and centrally in the chemoreceptor trigger zone of the brain. By inhibiting these receptors, it interrupts the signals that lead to the sensation of nausea and the physical act of vomiting.
